Hello Distance Preps Readers,

Sorry I have been slacking on my blog post duties. In my defense senior year has been exciting, but pretty busy.

This season has come and gone so fast.

Finishing off your final year as a high school athlete and student is an awesome time filled with accomplishments and pride, but also it's kinda somber in a way. I was originally going to use the word “sad” instead, but “sad” just seems, I dunno, too sad. So, I asked my mom and the thesaurus for help on that one, and everyone agreed that “somber” was more accurate.

So, here I am seeing how this season is flying by and having a blast but also knowing that this will be my last season on the high school circuit. Having that said, this season is by far the best track season I have had in high school. Not just personally, but everyone on the different track teams have really made this sport and season so great and memorable. I want to congratulate everyone on their PRs, and myself on my own LOL, it is always nice to see our hard work pay off!

For once in all four of my high school track years I will be able to represent my school at the state meet. As you can probably imagine I am bouncing of the walls like a mad man (on the inside) so excited!!!

I can't wait to see some amazing races and field events at the state meet. Bayshore High School actually has an individual female qualifier in the high jump, Joy Norman. She won our regional meet 2A region 3 and is ranked 4th among girls in the state division for 2A. Also, she is only a junior... so watch out for her long jump ladies!

Since this is my probably my last blog post as a high school athlete I feel like I should say some thank yous.

I want to thank my Coach, my local running group and family, Suncoast Striders,Coach Rae Ann Darling Reed, Doctor Bob and DistancePreps, my mom who has been to just about every XC meet and track meet since I began high school, usually bringing smoothies or other homemade treats.... oh, and she is a fabulous editor and content developer and my blog writing would probably suck without her!! so thank you for that mom!!

And everyone else who has supported me and really helped make these last four years something to remember.

Good luck to everyone this Friday and Saturday and good luck on all of your future goals!!
