Hello again Distancepreps readers!

I Hope everyone had a great and wonderful summer vacation as i did!

This summer I decided to try something new, and instead of taking two weeks off and then starting my  XC training, I continued through most of the summer with my track training.  I competed on the USATF/JR Olympic track circut. This was my first time competing on a 1500m race. To my surpirse it was a lot different from the 1600m race. The 1500 meters seemed to somehow have a different racing attitude, and 100 meters shorter makes the race go by faster...a lot faster it seemed.  I did fairly well. Competing at districts I placed first, followed up with a second place at regions, and then continued on to nationals competition in Greensboro, North Carolina where I advanced to finals and placed 9th overall with a PR of 4:10.

It was a completely different experience than the high school track. Besides enjoying the competition and the 1500, it was really awesome seeing the younger track/field athletes. Seeing how determined and talented they are (and how young some of them were) was really cool.

With XC started I am increasingly looking forward to some really great meets this year!  This is my fourth year running for Bayshore, and now that I am a senior, it will be my last year as a high school XC runner.  My team just competed at North Port Invitational, our second meet of the season. I placed second in the small school division (oh yeah, my school was bumped out of 3A and dropped to 2A). I am excited to be racing in a division where I don't know as many people. I look forward to getting to know some of the runners in my new division.

I can't wait for Prestates. The state meet course  at  FSU is an awesome and challenging course. I have set a personal goal of running a faster time on this course than I did last year.

This season is off to a strong start with fast times being run in all divisions. I can't wait to see all the new PR's that will be set this season!

Good luck to everyone and run like the wind!!
